I want to thank everyone that has shared in the special care of our mother

To everyone that makes Siler Pines special from Debbie Loesch at our first interview to Lindie and Hannah at our beginning and to Glenda and more. Cecil and I want to thank everyone that has shared in the special care of our mother over the last two years. Making the decision to relinquish the care of a loved one to others is so hard but everyone at Silver Pines made the transition the best it could be. You made birthdays and holidays special for each resident. The little but important things like peanut butter and banana sandwich when nothing else appealed and coffee with lots of creamer and cookies whether for breakfast or a snack and a warm bed to climb into at night made her new life better.

Effort was made to understand that though dementia stops new memories they still have many of their adult recollections along with the need to try to direct their life and help care for the home or other people, play games or simply have a conversation with someone that cares and interacts with them.

With lockdown in March her life and ours had so many changes. The loss of seeing loved ones and going out and about were difficult but being in your home atmosphere reduced the chance of experiencing isolation in a room. So thankful for that blessing. When I look back at the pictures from July to September I was shocked at the speed of changes.. We were so thankful you were there and a phone call away. Those phone calls frequently with Lindie and Debbie are what made the rapid decline manageable and comprehensive. Thank you to everyone. I know Susan sat at her bedside and held her hand one night and one day she had these beautiful painted nails because someone sat with her. Your kindness when my sister came for her final visit and her niece came in and sat with her and brushed her hair and talked with her and each day we came in and sat too. Helping us over a quarantine due to Cec’s surgery and unable to be there at such an important time. I hope each person receives such special care for their loved ones when the need arises.

With Gratitude and Thankfulness
Jeanette and Cecil Gates
